[ALT-EDIC] Le Voice Lab officially joins the industrial consortium of Alt-Edic! 🇫🇷🇪🇺 After contributing to the structuring phase of Alliance for Language Technologies - ALT-EDIC and helping consolidate France’s strategic positioning last year, Le Voice Lab is proud to have participated in its official launch yesterday, on the occasion of International Francophonie Day, at the Cité internationale de la langue française (Château de Villers-Cotterêts). This event, held in the presence of French and European representatives from the language technologies ecosystem, the Ministry of Culture, the The General Delegation for the French Language and the Languages of France, the Minister Delegate for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs and Alt-Edic leadership, was a key moment for discussions on the future of language technologies in Europe.
💡 Key topics addressed:
➡️ Strengthening this European alliance by establishing digital commons that serve each country and culture. ➡️ Encouraging the sharing of open-source resources, accessible both scientifically and industrially, (as Language Data Spaces). ➡️ Rethinking the use of LLMs in light of their limitations for certain languages and exploring the development of SLMs (Small Language Models). ➡️ Ensuring AI performance by fully integrating both linguistic and cultural specificities. ➡️ Reinforcing collaboration between academia and industry to drive innovation. ➡️ Uniting efforts around strategic, high-impact projects rather than ineffective initiatives.
🌍 Le Voice Lab and its members will continue to actively follow and contribute to the consortium’s work. The technologies developed by our members, such as STT & TTS, play a central role in shaping this industry. We are committed to providing all necessary resources to support the success of this European initiative led by France.
📢 It is time for countries to align on common strategies concerning data, models, certification, and standardization to promote efficient, sovereign technologies that comply with European regulations. This mission has been at the core of Le Voice Lab in France since 2019 supported by ours members, such as Voxist, TALKR.ai and LINAGORA, who also participated yesterday! 🇫🇷
